Lucas's Parents
This Little Golden Book was the best. I got it in 1963 but Lord only knows what happened to it over the years. About an old lady who refuses to sell out for a highway being built and forces the city to curve it around her house. She wins over the road building crew as well in the end. I think this book sparked a lifelong interest in highways. End of book shows traffic speeding by past her front yard while she sits in front of the house knitting. Wish I could find a decent copy again.
